Position Requirements: 

Education and Experience: Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two (2) year college or technical school; six (6) months to one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses Required: None.

Certifications Required: Certification (or willingness to obtain) in: First Aid and CPR.

Background Investigation Required:  BI through MN Department of Human Services.

Knowledge:  Knowledge of the Head Start recruitment, application, selection and enrollment, and data entry processes; knowledge of Federal and State rules and regulations; knowledge of community resources. 

Abilities:  Ability to work independently; organize and develop systems for accuracy; meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality. Ability to work effectively with community providers. Ability to effectively communicate with parents, co-workers and community agencies.

Skills:  Public speaking skills, supervisory skills, record keeping skills, detail oriented; computer skills, general office skills, data entry skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Implement and maintain the recruitment and enrollment component and supervise the Data Entry area according to the Federal and State rules and regulations pertaining to the Head Start Program.  Support the management team in the various service areas of the program.  Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with clients, customers, co-workers and supervisors. Responsible for establishing and maintaining an outreach and recruitment process which systematically ensures enrollment of eligible children.  Provide enrollment of eligible children regardless of race, sex, creed, color, national origin, or handicap according to Federal and State regulations.  Maintain efficient recruitment and selection processes along with an updated waiting list. Actively promote Head Start in the community.  Engage in public relations with community agencies, professionals and networks with local and regional groups.  Develop and maintain an outreach mailing list for Head Start service areas.  Make appropriate referrals and assist families when necessary.  Dependable attendance and must be flexible in daily work schedule. Coordinate with other components to ensure complete, accurate and up-to-date family records.  Supervise recruitment and data entry staff.  Attend staff meetings and trainings as necessary.  Maintain current documentation books and reports for program reviews. Prepare reports for Policy Council.   Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Essential Job Functions:

Normal office procedures, able to lift and carry 30 pounds safely, sitting in a chair or standing for extended periods of time, repetitive upper body movement including twisting, turning, and utilizing arms, hands, and fingers on phone system, keyboarding, extended visual contact with computer monitors.   Must be able to communicate effectively with clients and employees throughout building.  Must have a valid driver’s license.
