Bi-County Community Action Programs, Inc. (BI-CAP) is seeking a Head Start Classroom & Family Advocate in Kelliher, MN
The Classroom & Family Advocate (CFA) works collaboratively with Kelliher School District staff in a co-teaching classroom. The CFA is responsible for the effective operation of the Head Start program including teaching, providing direct support to Head Start families and conducting recruitment and enrollment activities.
Responsibilities include classroom instruction and planning and implementing daily activities for children; observing and recording child development and behavior; implementing ongoing assessments; providing information and referrals to families for services; assisting families with goal setting; organizing parent-child activities, and more.
Requirements: Applicant must have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in child development or early childhood education or equivalent coursework. Applicant must also have or obtain a Family Service Credential within 18 month of hire. Training will be provided by BI-CAP. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Must have transportation available to attend meetings and home visits as appropriate. Must have a strong commitment to BI-CAP’s values of collaboration, innovation and compassion as well as a respect for diversity.
Applicants must pass a DHS Background Study and meet DHS & MN Rule 3 licensing requirements.
Full time, 40 hours/week through the 10-month school year. Very part-time during the summer. Wage depending on qualifications starting at: $15 AA; $17 BS. Position benefitted through the school year.
