2024-2025 Fiscal & Budgeting Institute – Level 1
Date and Location: November 19-21, 2024 in San Diego, California
Join us for a three-day Level 1 fiscal training! We will focus on creating the budget for the five-year grant application that meets federal regulations and is aligned with community needs. The training will provide an understanding of the importance of working across tribal departments to plan effective budgets that support recipient five-year goals. Creating working partnerships between Head Start Programs, Fiscal Teams, and Human Resource staff is key to successful budget development.
Participants will develop a timeline for budget development including internal approvals. Teams will explore fiscal regulations that impact budget development, such as the limitation on administrative costs, the required non-federal share, and the inclusion of a cost allocation plan. Region XI Grants Management staff and Program Specialists will be on-hand to answer questions.
Attendees will review the new Head Start Grant Application with Guidance 3.01. Facilitators will demonstrate how to enter budgets into HSES and outline the required fiscal documents for uploading with the application. We will also discuss common budgeting mistakes and how to avoid them. Bring your questions and your budgets - get ready to learn by doing!
AUDIENCE: Tribal Leaders, Head Start/Early Head Start Directors, Fiscal staff, and Managers/Coordinators
