Full Job Description: The Coach Mentor is responsible to provide CLASS observations and mentor coaching, overall classroom support and follow-up for WCCA Head Start teachers and staff at our center based programs located in Wright and Western Hennepin County. This position will ensure teachers are getting direction and supervision needed to successfully teach and implement the assigned curricula and practices which promote high-quality learning and school readiness for Head Start participants. Job Functions and Responsibilities: Develop individual practice based coaching plans and professional development plans with staff, including specific goals and areas of growth identified, based on classroom and teacher observations. Implement the Practice-Based Coaching model by following the cyclical process of goal setting and action planning, focused observations, and reflection and feedback. Implement data-informed individual mentor coaching plans, provide constructive feedback, and support teaching staff for learning and growth. This may include activities, reading material, side-by-side support, modeling, discussion, video recording, or other resources as needed to guide learning. Utilize best practices in early childhood development based on Head Start Performance Standards, Creative Curriculum, CLASS, and other prescribed curricula used at WCCA. Implement and assure compliance with all policies, procedures, and approved activities of WCCA and the Head Start program, to attain all program objectives and meet Head Start Program Performance Standards and the Head Start Act. Assist Education Coordinator in overseeing the implementation of curriculum tools and activities used by teaching staff, to measure federally mandated outcomes for enrolled children, evaluated through Creative Curriculum Fidelity observations. Plan and provide training and professional development opportunities for staff. Train and support new staff as directed by the Education Coordinator. Represent WCCA and maintain professional job related skills and abilities by participating in pertinent training, workshops, conferences, and meetings. Ensure that teaching staff are monitored for quality interactions and provide suggestions to work with children, including those with special needs/disabilities. Support the program’s School Readiness Goals and Family and Community Engagement Goals. Prepare and submit regular manual and computerized reports and other related program activities and accomplishments. Perform other duties as assigned.
