Full Job Description: The Head Start Assistant Teacher assists the Teacher to: provide a safe, secure and nurturing classroom environment for up to 20 children; implement developmentally appropriate learning environments and curriculum; develop a partnership with families that identifies and highlights the family’s strengths, needs and supports; assist with transitions into and out of the Head Start program; participate in ongoing recruitment efforts; and actively encourage parents to participate in the program and provide appropriate opportunities and educational activities. Three Rivers Community Action, Inc. is a non-profit agency providing economic opportunities that strengthen individuals, families, and communities in southeastern Minnesota. This position is full-time (40 hours) per week and is based in Faribault or Northfield with potential but rare travel to other Agency locations, to visit families of students, and for training and meeting. Starting pay for this position is $17 an hour depending on qualifications and experience. This position will start August 2024 for the 2024-2025 school year and is subject to layoff between school years. Excellent benefit package, including generous Paid Time Off (PTO). Job offers are contingent on a reference check and a criminal background check and fingerprinting through the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). Qualifications: Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate or be enrolled in a program to obtain a CDA in two years. AA in Early Childhood/Child Development preferred but not required Bilingual (spoken/written) in English/Spanish, English/Somali or English/Arabic is preferred Basic computer skills Able to work occasional evening hours for home visits and work-related events Able to lift and/or carry 20-50 pounds from floor to shoulder height frequently; reach above shoulder level; bend/stoop; squat; crawl; climb; kneel; balance; push/pull; sit on the floor; and move quickly in the event of an emergency Qualification for Ongoing Employment: Able to obtain Family Service Credential Certificate within 18 months of hire date (Agency will provide training during first year of employment) Able to obtain certification in infant/child CPR and First Aid within 3 months Online application preferred: www.threeriverscap.org/careers.
