Full Job Description: The Head Start Cultural Navigator/Classroom Aide assists Teachers and Classroom Assistants carry out instructional activities and maintain a classroom/playground atmosphere conducive to learning, while also providing cultural and language interpreting for students and families. Three Rivers Community Action, Inc. is a non-profit agency providing economic opportunities that strengthen individuals, families and communities in southeastern Minnesota. This position will start August 2023 for the 2023-2024 school year. This position will be 32 hours per week (Monday through Thursday). It is based in Faribault, although the individual may occasionally need to report to another Head Start location (such as Northfield) or drive for training or meetings. Excellent benefit package including generous Paid Time Off (PTO). Job offers are contingent on a reference check and a criminal background check which requires fingerprinting through the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). This is a seasonal position subject to layoff between school years. Qualification: •High school diploma or GED •Bilingual (spoken/written) in English/Somali is required •Current, valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with the ability to complete travel for home visits, meetings, trainings, etc. •Able to work occasional evening hours for home visits and work-related events •Able to lift and/or carry between 20-50 pounds frequently •Able to reach above shoulder level, bend/stoop, squat, crawl, sit on floor or small chairs, climb, kneel, balance, push/pull, perform fine manipulation with hands and move quickly in the event of an emergency Qualification for Ongoing Employment: •Able to obtain Family Service Credential Certificate within 18 months of hire date (Agency will provide training during first year of employment) •Able to obtain certification in infant/child CPR and First Aid within 3 months Online application preferred.
