Degree in Early Childhood Education required JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE 2 years in Education SUPERVISION GIVEN None SUPERVISION RECEIVED Early Childhood Education Coordinator WAGE RANGE “BA, BS” $52,422-$60,318 WAGE RANGE “AA” $45,034-$51,113 BENEFITS “All” with a regular schedule of 30+ hours/week Job Summary: The Home Visiting Teacher is responsible for conducting home visits that primarily includes instructing/modeling developmentally appropriate parent child interactions that enhance optimal learning. Essential Functions and Duties: 1. Schedules and conducts home visits to Head Start and Early Head Start families. Addresses parent/family engagement learning activities. 2. Identifies the needs of Head Start and Early Head Start families and ensures that appropriate services are provided. 3. With parental input, plans and implements appropriate curriculum to comply with Head Start Performance Standards. 4. Models personal characteristics, which facilitate effective teacher performance and provides for continued individual and professional growth. 5. Administers hearing, vision, developmental, height and weight screenings and updates ongoing developmental checklists. Develops goals based on the assessment results and monitors progress with ongoing assessments 6. With parental input, plans and conducts group socialization experiences to strengthen and expand the learning opportunities for Head Start and Early Head Start families, with parental input. 7. Works cooperatively with outside agencies to ensure a program that includes all aspects of needs area. 8. Maintains timely records which entails lesson plans, child progress data, family engagement goals and progress. 9. Demonstrates confidentiality in all matters. 10. Maintains a safe workplace and fosters a culture of attention to health and safety. Understanding of Minnesota Maltreatment Law to keep all children safe from any type of harm. 11. Recruits families for Reach-Up Inc. programs throughout the year. 12. Maintains a positive work environment by performing and communicating in a professional manner with children, families, co-workers and supervisors. Reach-Up reserves the right to assign other duties as necessary. Essential Interpersonal Skills: 1. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and communication with staff, employees of other agencies, and families. 2. Demonstrates ability to work effectively with diverse populations of staff, students, and parents. 3. Demonstrates respect for the basic dignity of students, teachers, support staff, colleagues and parents. 4. Supports and adapts to change and demonstrates commitment to continuous performance improvement. Non-Essential Functions and Duties: 1. Transports Early Head Start families. 2. Performs general clerical. Skills and Education 1. B.A./B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education preferred. A.A.+ required. 2. First Aid/CPR certification 3. Knowledge of prenatal development, parenting skills, parent/child relationships and concerns of families with low incomes 4. Ability to relate, interact and establish rapport with children and families. 5. Ability to plan and implement goals and objectives. 6. Ability to work independently, listen and communicate effectively, solve problems, maintain a flexible work schedule and be well organized. 7. Knowledge of community resources and understanding of social service networks. 8. Computer skills and familiarity with software programs. 9. Ability to furnish own means of transportation with 100,000/300,000 liability limits for bodily injury, underinsured motorist and uninsured motorist. Tools and Materials Used: The manual dexterity to operate typical office equipment and a vehicle. Physical Demands: Physical ability and psychological competence to meet the needs of the children. The physical dexterity necessary to use a computer. The ability to work accurately with numbers, communicate verbally, attend a workshop and drive a vehicle.
