Full Job Description: WCCA is seeking substitute Teachers, Assistant Teachers, and Classroom Aide's for our locations throughout Wright County. The Head Start program supports the development of children ages 3-5 with services that promote school readiness and parent engagement, while also helping families connect to a larger community network. Activities focus on developing language, literacy, creativity, math and science skills, social function and more. Students and families enrolled in Head Start also receive health, dental, and nutrition services, and community resources and referrals. Education Requirements: Teacher - Associates or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field. Assistant Teacher - Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or working toward obtaining a Child Development Associate Credential; or Meet or exceed MN DHS Rule 3 qualifications for Assistant Teacher and are willing to complete a CDA within 2 years of hire. A State awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential is also acceptable. Classroom Aide - High school diploma or equivalent, or are enrolled in a GED program. Must also have or be working towards obtaining a Child Development Associate Credential. CDA must be obtained within 2 years of hire. Preferred Experience: -Classroom or Head Start experience as an Early Childhood Educator preferred. -Must meet State Licensing requirements for First Aid training, CPR training, Child Passenger Safety training, physical examination and Applicant Background Studies. -Experience and ability to work with Spanish speaking parents and children. -Experience within a Head Start classroom is preferred. Head Start Specific Responsibilities: -Assist with implementation and monitoring of center activities including conducting tooth brushing, use of restroom and handwashing, documenting attendance, taking developmental observations and maintaining a staff ratio at all times when children are present. -Assist with implementation of individual Head Start service plans. -Maintain open lines of communication with all Head Start staff, children and families. -Maintain a clean and safe environment including washing and sanitizing all food related surfaces/utensils, vacuum and/or wash floors, empty all trash receptacles and set up/tear down of center equipment. -Put into practice WCCA Head Start nutrition standards including grocery acquisition, food service, sanitation, recordkeeping, and occasional meal planning. -Must be able to assume responsibility of position you are filling in for. -Act as a bus monitor on assigned routes. -Perform other duties as assigned.
