Tri-Valley Head Start, Child and Family Programs (Tri-Valley Head Start) operates under the private, non-profit Community Action Agency Tri-Valley Opportunity Council, Inc. (Tri-Valley). Tri-Valley was incorporated on June 8, 1965 under Linden Johnson’s war on poverty. Tri-Valley Head Start has a long tradition of delivering comprehensive and high-quality services designed to prepare children and families for success in Kindergarten and beyond. With the mission of to providing opportunities to improve the quality of life for people and communities, Tri-Valley operates the following programs: Senior Programs; Community Service Programs; Housing Programs; and Head Start, Child and Family Programs. Tri-Valley’s Head Start, Child and Family Programs division has a long tradition of delivering comprehensive and high quality services designed to foster healthy development of low-income children. The mission is to cultivate life-long learning in children and families. Our guiding principles are: • Children and Families Come First • Life-Long Learning is Essential • Top Notch Services • Embrace and Celebrate Diversity • Safe Environments REGION V The program operates a Region V Head Start and Early Head Start program, providing comprehensive child development services to 275 eligible infants, toddlers, preschoolers and pregnant women though federal and state funding in center-based and home-based programming methods. The service area for Head Start includes Marshall, Norman and Polk Counties in NW Minnesota. The service area for early Head Start includes Polk and Norman Counties in NW Minnesota and Steele County in SE Minnesota. REGION XII Tri-Valley Head Start also operates a Region XII Migrant and Seasonal Head Start and early Head Start program, providing services to 724 eligible infant, toddlers, preschoolers and pregnant women through federal and state funding in center-based and home-based models. Tri-Valley holds this grant for the entire state of Minnesota and North Dakota. Centers are located where a majority of families live and/or work in seasonal agricultural jobs within the communities. Many of our Region XII Head Start families migrant in search of agricultural work.
