1965 Head Start, 2002 Early Head Start
Arrowhead Head Start is a comprehensive early childhood program for low-income families at no cost. The program serves pregnant mothers, children birth to age five (5) and their families. Services provided to children who may have special needs or disabilities. The program partners with local school districts to ensure children are ready for school. Children are prepared for school through: • Early Learning in socialization, play and planed and spontaneous instruction. • Health in their physical development to ensure children can explore and function in their environment. • Family Well-Being focus to ensure children are supported in all aspects of their lives and promoting parent/guardians as a child’s first and most important teacher. Early Head Start Home-Base Program (Pregnant mothers and children birth up to age 3 and their family) • Personalized, educational weekly home visits with a licensed teacher. • Comprehensive health and nutrition services. • Health education for parents to-be. • Identification of developmental benchmarks. • Parent instruction in supporting their child’s on-going learning. • Monthly socialization experiences with other families. Head Start Center-Base Program (Children ages 3-5 and their family) • Free educational classroom experience 4-days per week (full or part day) • Highly qualified and licensed teaching staff. • Fun learning activities. • Nutritious meals and snacks in line with USDA requirements. • Transportation is available in selected areas. Head Start Preschool Home-Base Program (Children ages 3-5 and their family) • Weekly visits in the family home. • Individualized child instruction. • Qualified and licensed teaching staff. • Monthly socializations with other families.
