Job Summary:
Responsible for assisting the Head Start Teacher with all aspects of the classroom.
Qualifications (Teacher Assistant 1): Probationary wage $16.57/hr; 6 month wage $17.36/hr
- High School graduate or GED and minimum 18 years of age
- Prefer Early Childhood education and work experience
- Possess current First Aid/CPR certificate or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass a background study
- Required to enroll in Child Development Associate Program (CDA) after completing six (6) month probation
- Regularly lifts 50 lbs., and occasionally more, and is able to kneel, bend, stoop, and sit on floor to attend to the children’s needs

- Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing

- Must complete a minimum of 3 Early Childhood credits every 3 years
- Background study required
- High School graduate or GED and minimum 18 years of age

Duties and Responsibilities (Teacher Assistant 1):
- Assists in the management of the site in its entirety and maintains compliance with federal performance standards and state licensing requirements
- Responsible for ensuring the safety of all children through the compliance of Head Start policies and procedures
- Responsible for the food program and meal requirements
- Assists in the individualized and quality care of children
- Assists with planning and implementation of the designated curriculum
- Assists with all child screenings and ongoing assessments
- Assists substitute teaching staff
- Assists with child and family outcomes as mandated by federal, state, and local regulations
- Assists with the implementation of home visits, conferences, field trips, and transition meetings
- Responsible for timely documentation of all required program data
- Assists children in a bus aide capacity on scheduled program transportation routes when assigned
Duties and Responsibilities (Teacher Assistant 2):
- Responsible for ensuring the safety of all children following Head Start Health/Safety and Standard Code of Conduct policies and procedures
- Assists with implementation of the designated Head Start curriculum & School Readiness goals
- Assists in classroom organization, preparation, and clean-up
- Participates in weekly site team staffing and planning meetings
- Substitutes in Center/Combo Managers absence
- Assists in specific record keeping and form completion
- Assists Center/Combo Manager as assigned with CACFP documentation, purchasing, meal prep & cleanup
- Assists with data collection, reporting, and analyzing child outcomes as mandated by federal, state, and local regulations
- Supports the Parent, Family, and Community Engagement goals and activities
- Assists children in a bus aide capacity on scheduled program transportation routes when assigned
- Participates in all program training and selected individualized professional development
- Assists children with toileting and diapering needs
- Is a Mandated Reporter
FT Teacher Assistant 1 or 2 needed in a Proctor Head Start classroom for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. Wage dependent on qualifications. 38 hrs/wk, 37 weeks/year. Please apply by July 31, 2022. AA/EOE
